Just got ahold of the latest Illinois Business Journal. There was an interesting article about development grants available to building and business owners in downtown. I don't know the details, but apparently money is available (up to $10,000 each) for renovations. So far $70,000 has been given out. Also Lance Callis (of the Callis Law firm) now owns the old Gardian Savings Bank. Now if the city could just do something about those slum funeral homes downtown....
