Help locating a business in downtown granite city? Archived Message

    Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone knows a business owner who would like to either lease, but preferably sale? Back in late August of this year, I was looking into renting out the now Chantel Paris, located at the end of the Ralph building, across from the cinema. I went to city hall, went before the HARC Committee and was approved to open up a homemade/artistic craft store. I have wooden shelves that I stain, paint, etc. and homemade baby blankets, homemade wreaths for various holidays, WWE figurines inside little painted wooden crates, wooden and stained bible cases with a cross on top, framed pictures with stars back from Hollywood's golden era of the 1940's and 50's, mancave items stained and made from wood, baby decorations, and lots more. However, after waiting till early October, the man who is part owner of the Ralph Building, called and said that him and his senior partner decided to sell the building to some conglomerate or something. I never was so disgusted in my life.
Then, back about two weeks ago I saw a businesss for sale on State Street and thought I had a done deal, till the bank said I was approved on everything on my credit, but don't make enough money. They told me that even if I mortgaged my house, I still would have to have a co - signer regardless. I have been told at city hall to talk to Steve or John Ferry, that he was the one who knows about business owners wanting to sell or lease out. I called and never got a response. I can pay around $400 dollars a month, but no more. The building I have most recently looked at would have only been around $200 per month.
If anyone knows anybody that could get me in contact to a potential business owner, who would lease or even sell. I would be very interested in meeting with them.
I also looked into the Billiards Club downtown, which is for sale. and they are wanting at least $75,000 for it. This building is across from Stopkottie's skating rink.
This is such a shame because I would really like to help build downtown up. There were 3 other participants at city hall, to get approved of their business, and they are up and running and have been since September. After I was approved at city hall, back in August, I received 2 letters to be in the Santa Parade here in the town. I was ready to be in the parade, this time, as a business owner, and not a spectator at the parade in November.
Please, if anyone knows anything or anyone, who could help, send them to me.I think it would reflect good, on the old days of Granite City. I know once I got going, I would be fine. Finally, I had already made my mind up to donate some of my earnings and give it to a charity, such as St. Jude, or Children's Miracle Network. I have no kids, would love to have one, so this is my way of giving to them. My phone # is 618-219-2891 or 618-610-7330. Anytime is fine for me to talk with anyone about establishing a business. Thanks for your alls time.

    Jeff.
