Seems there is no end or relief in sight, nothing on the horizon, except grief.
Per this evening's journal, Press-Record or what ever the he** you call it now. The Granite City residents will be facing a 12.4 Percent increase on their property tax bill next year, to fund pension shortfall. It stated that 12.4 percent would amount to an additional $ 66.95 per 100,000 dollar evaluation. Granted it is not that much in itself, but that will be on top of higher tax levies by other taxing bodies, and most likely we'll be asked by then to pay more for the school district as well. Higher Gas prices, higher food prices, on and on, crap coffee alone is 2 bucks higher than it was just 2 years ago, plus the net wt has been lowered in what is commonly referred to a a 2 lb can of coffee, sure is not 2 lbs anymore is it?
I'll save a few bucks by not renewing my scription to the Belleville Democrat as well as the Journal/Press Record.
