numerous parts of the bible could be quoted to highlight the good intentions of god for his creations...if you believe in the bible and label yourself a christian - there should be no debate over whether or not you should be moral, to be in the image of god and the holy spirit. furthermore - coming from an angle i much prefer - it could be argued that education and morality are the largest driving forces in human evolution. morality can be identified and injected into the fabric of human nature. this injection advances us much faster than the slow processes of heredity and natural selection. these thoughts were borrowed from T.H. Huxley. as far as dropping to my knees and asking him myself? i have tried. god doesn't talk to me - i do not hear voices in my head. i have read the bible multiple times - parts of the torah and the talmud, parts of the koran, all of confucious and the analects, the entire story of Buddha, and numerous other religious texts. i consider this to be the root of my open-mindedness. that i can read a story and not make it a belief i am willing to kill or die for. furthermore my approach is truly from the middle - my friends do not label me a secularist, even in error - they actually often times seek me for discussions of this nature because of the broad view i have...i have had more deep conversations with christians about this than with anyone else. some people only quote the bible - so i teach them with their own words. some have never explored other religious ideas - like when a christian says they believe in reincarnation - there is nothing in the bible about it...so i would teach that person about hinduism and buddhism. i have shown some people that their spirit is more in tune with eastern philosophies than western ones. it is because i am always seeking a broad view. i think that is me in a nutshell - broad view. i always try to see the big picture. i always try to step outside my own beliefs and thoughts and i try to wear the shoes of others. i strive to be more empathetic than i naturally am. 3dee - the reason you are wrong, in a topic where it is impossible to be wrong - is when you cast judgements on me, likely cast before any of my words were read. which judgement? "But as you would like judgment against Muslims to stop, you also have to withhold it from the Christian community. There are many open-minded, open-hearted Christians out there, and just because you might not see them in your day to day interactions does not mean they aren't there." saying i have a close mind about christians...i think that statement is absurd. i did not cast this on ALL christians - but i have found in my life a majority of christians do despise and distrust muslims. i grew up in a christian home with christian parents in a christian town...within a largely christian nation. i have studied the bible more than any other religious text. my statements are not aimed at alienating or judging christians - it is my attempt to help christians be more christian. accept. love. embrace differences. seek peace. that is it. bottom line.
