You continually fail to understand that the private markets create more efficient solutions to problems than the government can. Government intervention into any problem only leads to more problems, (the government then needs more tax money to solve, create even problems)
Just because tax rates were once so staggeringly high on the wealthy does not mean that such action was ever wise.
Even if you were to take ALL of the income from the wealthiest 20% of the population, you still could not balance the budget with the current spending scheeme. The problem is not the incoming revenue, it's ineffective inefficient use of the revenue, via programs the government put into place, attempting to solve problems, that the government should have never toiled in to begin with. (In most cases they are actually constitutionally banned from attempting to solve, but they have clearly shown; They don't care about the constitution )
truth is - we have maintained low taxes and cut them for the wealthiest, but how has this made things easier on the middle class and the impoverished?
Truly impoverished are nearly a nonentity in this country. Stop attempting to use that lie. In America, we feed fat people who won't work. In America, someone who sleeps in a heated and air conditioned home, with hot and cold running water is poor. (because the do not own an x-box? )
Moving on, how has lower taxes helped the middle class? It has encouraged industrial growth. It's allowed those with skill to employ those with less skill to in a free partnership that benefits all parties.
i profess we raise taxes to attempt a different approach to our economic policies. the government either needs to put people to work, or provide the means for people to obtain upward mobility in their lives through education...NOT simply cut funding and budgets and shrinking/undoing the progress in social uplift we have made in the past.
I profess that if it's the governments job to find work for people, have them start fixing our levies using spoons in place of shovels. Why would you want to use efficient modern earth moving equipment, if the point is give people jobs? Where in our governments charter is it listed that the responsibility of the government to create jobs? (or provide for the people anything but essential liberties.)
