    No, I can't see taxes going down. Although, to give our local government / school board credit, Granite and surrounding areas have weathered the housing bubble very well. I haven't witnessed the 50% declines seen out West, down South, and even more locally in places like JeffCo and St. Charles County.

    Lower housing prices are a very good thing. They are only bad for the folks who bought near the top of an almost unimaginable bubble. Home prices doubled in just ten years, from the late 90s to 2007 or so. Prices are simply going back to where they should be.

    Districts, especially working-class districts such as Granite, have to be careful with raising taxes too far, as those with more resources will simply pack up and move, leaving a greater proportion of poorer folks. AKA: reduced tax base.
