My pet peeve is people calling their spouse or significant other their "old man" or "old lady."
"I don't know if I can play poker with the boys tonight, I have to check with the old lady."
Or "I can't go shopping, my old man got mad about how much I spent last time."
Disrespectful terms for someone who SHOULD be loved, honored, and cherished since (if it's a spouse) that's what you vowed to do. I've only been married for 5 years, but if we're lucky enough to both live to celebrate our 55th anniversary, my 84 year old husband still will not be my old man. He'll be my husband.
Or young people calling their father their "old man"....
