Years ago the bathroom toilet facilities on U.S. Railroads flushed onto the railway beds. I remember signs being posted outside the bathrooms stating "Do Not Flush When Standing in Station". Many times the train conductor would lock the door to the bathroom prior to arriving at the train stations. Two fishermen were fishing along a rail bank whenever a passenger train passed and splattered them with a smelly substance (poop, pee & toilet paper). I don't know what the outcome was from the law suit, but soon afterward self contained toilets were implemented on all passenger trains.
