no...i do not think we should cut education. i think we should expand it. i can discuss any other public sector profession, which requires less education and training, that have their retirements which they pay into and are promised to them.

metal - you are a boner with much less skill and talent than me in the art of teaching...and life in general...i think i make a fine teacher. IMHO

by the way my comment was an advocacy for people who ARE higher qualified and more intelligent than me to teach - which would happen if the pay was there.

i have a PhD friend who is a biologist who would love to teach - and is considering it at the university level - but the money is not there compared to what he could make in the private sector...so it is a future aspiration.

"All of this can be accomplished without hurting our children's education. One's success educationally depends almost solely on their own drive to succeed. We need not get into the discussion regarding the evidence that money does not fix bad educational systems..."

a republican stance...same old tired song and dance...

there actually is research that proves it - there is also at the same time research that suggests no change in quality of education depending on money allocated. you have to think for yourself and think about it - if you had your own laptop with wi-fi when you were in school - would you have been a better student? i know i would have.

but, consider the way we evaluate growth and success in education. can a standardized test with no bearing on their academic career properly determine whether or not the money was well spent?

    read about john dewey...

"Dewey’s ideas went on to influence many other influential experiential models and advocates. Many researchers even credit him with the influence of Project Based Learning (PBL) which places students in the active role of researchers."

his school performed top notch education - and did it with much more money than others spent, because the cirriculum changed so often. the change in subjects required different tools and different people...he is credited for alot of the good practices we use today, and like me he felt education had to be properly funded because it taught people how to function and how to think deeply...it was worth the investment in order to create a strong nation.

just some thoughts...that is all the time i have right now...
