    Tornado rips through area evening of 4/3/1981.

    I think this is the one that did some extensive damage in Glenview.
    The path shows that it came up from around East St. Louis, Horseshoe Lake and went through populated areas in Glenview and the path continued toward Edwardsville.

    I was really young when all that happened, but I remember a handful of occasions going to the basement as a child and that day must have been one of them.

    Then when I got older, instead of going to the basement, I'd start going outside first and then going downstairs if it got truly ugly.

    I've been lucky as far as storm damage has been concerned.
