Yup. I work at a credit card company, and this is one of the most common calls we get. All of a sudden customers get a monthly charge for some outrageous amount because they got a free trial with fine print saying they agreed to enroll in a recurring program.

Call the company, cancel the enrollment (or the order, if you've done it in time). Get as much proof as you can that you're canceled and you're getting your money back and not enrolled in any recurring program: a cancellation number, the name and employee ID number of the person you spoke to, an email confirmation if they offer it. Then call the credit card company and stop the charge/ freeze the card if you can do so (if it hasn't already come through).

If the charge is already authorized and has already come through and you can manage to do without the card for a week or two, reporting the card lost/stolen could work. However, recurring charges get authorized a different way than if you were to swipe a card at a store, so even reporting it lost/stolen may not stop future charges from going through (which is why you need to talk to the company and get it canceled on their end, and the proof in case they don't follow through on their end so you can dispute any charges).
