Hockey is not a school sanctioned sport so it doesn't matter if school was cancelled or not, the hockey game will go on. Dee, I get what you are saying about the GPA being the most important number however as a parent of a child who played hockey and baseball for a number of years I can tell you that these sports were part of what molded my son into the fine young man he is today. His grades were always good (still are in college) and he always knew that if the grades dropped so would the sports. I honestly believe that hockey is what kept my son focused on school and kept him out of trouble. It's not ALL about the GPA, yes it is the most important but sports teaches a lot more to our youth than you might think. He had a lot of great coaches as leaders to look up to, he was taught discipline and team work. The life long friends we made over the years are priceless. I am glad my son played sports and I am glad they were an important part of his growing up.
