Nit picking bluedoggie, yes I guess I am, but since you like to figure, yes the increased tax levy is small, and for me it will be a little over 8 bucks more, now start adding up all the other small increases everywhere, like another $95.40 s year for Sewers, the increase in property assessments even through the market value as decreased, increased tax levies in nearly all the other taxing bodies, the increase rates for Ameren, Water, look at the taxes you pay on all your bills and utilities. Yea a small increase here and there, but sure as hell adds up rather quickly, in my book. Horseygirl, Speaking Out, What u say, and Athena, you all have hit the nail on the head with your comments. In fact I've pretty much made up my mind to run for Trustee here in Pontoon, while I may not have the answers, I could sure put some dampers on some of the spending. Another point that I might add is that I for one would gladly pay about 20 bucks a year more on my tax bill if we could become a part of the Granite City Park District, and no, I do not have any children or grandchildren that would benefit from it, but there are many families around here that do have little ones, that would benefit from it. I'd rather see kids and lower income families get more than the fat cats getting fatter at our expense.
