We used to take mini-staycations at Drury Inns with the kids a couple times each winter when they were young. We would rent 2 connected rooms and let them bring friends and they would swim all evening while we enjoyed drinks with friends who would do the same thing. Drury offers free cocktails during the happy hour (2 to an adult) and free popcorn and soda till 10p when the pool closes and a fantastic hot breakfast in the mornings. The kids looked forward to it as much as we did. And the rooms there are very reasonable, I think they are about $90 a night in Collinsville. I would rather stay somewhere in Illinois than St. Louis. St Louis is so overpriced for hotel rooms.
