In regard to the swamp rat lawyers (my words not yours) looking to sue over this if someone gets sick, good luck to them proving my business was the source of the infection. Can't be done.
I would also say in reference to insurance companies, whose only good purpose on this planet is to provide the base when we throw all attorneys and politicians in the river, I would say that better to take my chance and lose it all later than stay closed and lose it now.
I know of at least one small business operator in GC who won't survive this closing. Already considering just shuttering the place.
Finally, and I would hope all board members look at this point. We are, for the most part, an intelligent society. We try to drive safely. We try to eat health foods. We try to protect our homes. We, your constituents, can handle this. We're going in places already with our masks on. We wash our hands regularly. We avoid people who are coughing and sneezing. We will look out for ourselves without being told by Governor Prickster what we can and can't do.
If you don't weigh anything else, please think about the last paragraph. I'm much older than most on here. I've survived wars, polio, 911, swine flu and now this pandemic because I watch out for me and mine. We're dying on the vine Mr. Chris. Our community and yours as well relies heavily on these small businesses. I don't think our governor cares about them or southern Illinois.
The only political mention I will make is that I firmly believe the governor is trying to stall this opening for political reasons against the President. I know some don't agree but it's become my hardened opinion.
From the get go, it hasn't made sense that I can go to Aldi's but not a park.
Again, I know you'll weigh many variables. You don't strike me as the type who will allow party to influence your vote on this issue. Good luck and God bless in your debate. You now have one old farts opinion.
they did not fail, because they did what their country asked of them....
