She DOESN'T get an IMRF pension, or health insurance, or Christmas bonus like the/you office girls do.
And, she stays HIGHLY productive. She is smart and driven to do the right thing for the taxpayers. She knows right from wrong where apparently many people don't--or don't care if it furthers their agenda.
Mel is on the side of we taxpayers, and the law. Her opposition desperately wants her and her husband gone so they can resume business as usual, which includes giving the new Clerk a raise and garnering yet another public pension or two for a familiar family (or two).
The last time I went to the township office at 2:45pm on a Friday, where the hours were posted open to 3:30pm, there was no one there. The time before that, one of them was doing her nails at her desk.
With the only responsibility in their office being the disbursement of General Assistance funds, a public notary, and a Deputy Clerk--and then seeing the quality of job they are doing (there is over $200,000. in the assistance fund, how much got dispersed during the flooding?), all of them, in my opinion, are overpaid.
Further, I find their rude and arrogant behavior that Mel and our elected officials, Don, and especially Helen, and also some of our citizenry are forced to endure from them and the politicians that support them, completely out of line with the job description.
