Aliza,
Sorry I didn't answer your question...it very well could be a ghost/spirit that hasn't moved on.
Perhaps they passed away on that land long ago or in that house.
To them your trespassing and their just letting you know that their there.
I'd try telling them to go to the light and tell them that their dead.
