I also saw this show on either TLC or Discovery recently & it concerned me very much. I have never seen a "ghost" or had a lot of paranormal experiences I care to talk about. But we used to live in a house on 84th st., south of Grand Rapids Michigan, near Caledonia, and there were many similarities to this show such as seeing shadows, electrical phenomena, dark figures standing over myself & others & myriad of other things that were witnessed by other family members & unassociated guests and visitors. I remember when I was in junior high my parents had a friend over for a few days & I was laying in bed & heard this lady tell my mother that she thought she saw a "dark shadowy person" standing over in bed during the night. Several of my friends would also report seeing such things. Then in 1985 I woke to a funny whirring noise, thinking it was the fan I had running in my room malfunctioning. Then as plan as day I saw a person walk into my room & stand over me. I thought it was my friend Kevin & he had ran out of gas or something and snuck into the house to get me up so I could go out to the barn & get him some gas or whatever. There was ambient light coming in through the window just enough to see there was someone in the room & when he/it came over & stood over me I went to say "Kevin whats wrong did you run out of gas or something" quietly so as to not wake my parents in the next room. Suddenly I was being choked, I guess is the best way to explain, & trying to scream out to wake my parents up but I couldnt move or scream out like I had severe laryngitis. So I was screaming HELP,HELP but could make no sound louder than a strained whisper! This lasted maybe ten or fifteen seconds & it turned & left the room as the whirring sound slowly faded. I have never been so horrified in my life!!! And I beg GOD that this would never happen again. In fact after trying to scream out Help several times I started crying out to Jesus & GOD out of reflex. It was like HELP,HELP, OH GOD JESUS HELP ME!!! Watching a movie is one thing but having something like this happen is beyond scary & I feel a need to explain it away like sleep paralysis(for example), but I know I was already woken by the fan & I was not sleeping or dreaming.This event caused me to investagate everything from UFO bedroom encounters to Incubus (supposedly the 16th demon from "hell" that has been written about since the 16th century) that is said to attack & rape women at night in bed.I am 40 years old now as of sept 30, 2004 and still "prefer" to sleep with the lights on. Also in this house the basement would become "scary" at times even the middle of the day. One time me and my girlfriend at the time just got spooked and without a word both ran upstairs. The house wasnt old or an old funeral parlor but the more I think of it quite a lot has gone on there so the show about the Haunting in Connecticut(& Georgia) ring a bell I dont like. I could go on typing for ever about things I have written off & yet I consider myself as someone who has not had much of this sort of thing happen to me. But that night in my room I will NEVER foreget!!! I would like to ask the people who live in that house now if they have had anyting strange happen.
