Posted by Mary on 9/7/2004, 2:04 pm, in reply to "Re: burning curiosity" I do indeed live in Evergreen, Colorado. The town has it's history in lumber, raising animals for fur, and as a stopover point for mining further west. Originally, the land belonged to the Ute Indians, although I'm not sure they habited this particular spot. The land surrounding our property was homesteaded in 1875, by a schoolteacher/politician. His original house is up the road. His family then parcelled out the property in the early 1900s. The houses surrounding us were built as simple vacation homes for people in Denver. They are pretty old: one of them was built in 1917. Our house was built in 1993. I have a neighbor across the road, whose grandfather built some of those early vacation homes. I have asked her about the history before, but she didn't know much, as she was a child back then. Do you think it would be worthwhile to hire a medium to come in or am I asking for trouble? Thank you Lainie!
: Hi Mary,
: Interesting to say the least.
: I may be way off here, I feel like some of your
: experiences comes from pioneer type people. They were
: traveling and died, weather & hunger and sickness.
: I have no idea where you are from. I live on the east
: coast of the states, when we travel across country,
: there is one state that I feel all these things that I
: am feeling through your post. That state is Colorado.
: As pretty as it is, I can't stay in that state a long
: period of time.
: The child I get a drowning feeling, drowning in or
: water the lungs filling up do to a illness, I can't
: tell the difference, but a drowning sensation.
: Like I said, I can be way off. This is what I sense.

: In the last ten years, some things have happened that
: are
: very difficult to explain. With one exception, the
: occurances were not scary, but rather comical. One
: time, a child came shuffling into my room in the middle
: of the night. At first I thought she or he (I'm not
: sure which) was one of my own, but then she
: dissapeared. Several times I've heard rattling in the
: kitchen cupboard, although I can easily attribute that
: to settling? Once, in the early morning hours, I awoken
: by someone rustling through the cereal box (Lucky
: Charms) and when I checked my kids were all asleep in
: their beds. Another time my husband came out of the
: bathroom without washing his hands and after about half
: a minute the faucet turned on by itself. The only
: scary thing was when a big, heavy, spring loaded fire
: door to the outside slammed shut in the middle of the
: night (wind is not a possible explanation). There have
: been several minor things (buzzes by my ear, touches,
: feelings, shadows out of the corner of my eye that
: other people as well as myself see). When my children
: were younger, they reported some interesting things: a
: voice calling their name, seeing faces at night,
: and--my favorite--"a man in my foot who pulls a
: string that makes me have bad dreams"
: At this point I have a burning curiosity as to what
: this all is and means? Is this a spirit? ghost? If
: so, is he/she one or more than one? someone I know who
: has passed on? Why are they here? How do I weed out
: the occurrences that are spirit-like versus explainable
: in a physical sense? Is it house/property related? Can
: someone direct me as to how to satisfy my curiosity?
