Why are they here? How do I weed out the occurrences that are spirit-like versus explainable in a physical sense? Is it house/property related? Can someone direct me as to how to satisfy my curiosity?

In the last ten years, some things have happened that are very difficult to explain. With one exception, the occurances were not scary, but rather comical. One time, a child came shuffling into my room in the middle of the night. At first I thought she or he (I'm not sure which) was one of my own, but then she dissapeared. Several times I've heard rattling in the kitchen cupboard, although I can easily attribute that to settling? Once, in the early morning hours, I awoken by someone rustling through the cereal box (Lucky Charms) and when I checked my kids were all asleep in their beds. Another time my husband came out of the bathroom without washing his hands and after about half a minute the faucet turned on by itself. The only scary thing was when a big, heavy, spring loaded fire door to the outside slammed shut in the middle of the night (wind is not a possible explanation). There have been several minor things (buzzes by my ear, touches, feelings, shadows out of the corner of my eye that other people as well as myself see). When my children were younger, they reported some interesting things: a voice calling their name, seeing faces at night, and--my favorite--"a man in my foot who pulls a string that makes me have bad dreams"
