Diane,
I was just curious, what do you think of the Ouija Board? Several years ago, when my children were young, I had one and it told me of things that the kids were doing while out of my sight. On a few of these occasions, I did a bit of checking and discovered the truth of what I had been told,i.e.; my daughter was smoking out behind the shed. Curious as to whether there was anything to this or not, I went out and lo and behold, there she was, smoking!
Another time that I clearly recall was when the board spelled out the word danger and went on to describe how my kids had almost fell in the creek while trying to cross it. This time, I was skeptical, my kids weren't allowed at the creek unless an adult was with them, they knew that, and I didn't go check. I had enough faith in them that I let this one slide.
When the kids returned, a little neighbor girl was with them, and I questioned them about what they had been doing and asked them if they had tried to cross the creek. My son tried to deny it but my daughter and the little neighbor girl looked at each other, then my daughter asked how I had known.
The little neighbor girl told me that they had been crossing the tree that had fallen across the creek and that she had dropped her doll. She said that my son had tried to get the doll, that my daughter had grabbed him, and that both of them had nearly fallen in.
I used the Ouija Board on and off for a few years, talking with a spirit that claimed to be an ancestor of mine. Wanting to verify what I had been told, I did some checking with older family members and found out that there had been a family member with the name that I had been given, that he had lived within the time frame that I had been given, and that he had indeed been killed in the Civil War. Freaky!
The last thing that I remember being told by this spirit was that it was time for it to move on and the, I guess you would call it, warning that it gave me: Never ask if there is "Anyone" there and if they want to talk, it said for me to ask for a "Specific" person and ask direct, specific questions of them. It said to ask if someone or anyone was there was equivalent to leaving a door open for anyone/anything to enter.
That was enough to cause me to put off using the board, since that was how I had came into contact with the departing spirit of the board, by asking if anyone was there. I would think about using it but never actually get around to getting it out.
Eventually, it got shoved into the closet. It is still there, somewhere, and who knows, maybe one of these days I will hunt it up and get it back out.
The Ouija isn't the only thing that I have tried, over the years. I have tried Runes, without much success.
I tried 'Candle Magic' and scared myself with it.
I bought a Voodoo Doll that caused my daughter to have bad dreams and ended up having to get rid of it. I gave it to a cousin and he says he burnt it. I don't know whether he actually did or not, though.
I have Indian Medicine Cards but have never been able to figure them out.
And, I own several decks of Tarot Cards. I am fairly decent at reading them, although I can't go very far into the future with them. I am, however, fairly accurate with the past and the present. Still, I have people that come over and want me to read for them and, once in a great while, I will oblige them and get the cards out. My favorite deck is 'The Rider Tarot Deck'.
My Grandpa and Grandma were, both, intune with the Spirit World and could stories that would make a cold chill run down your spine and the hair on your arms to stand up.
My Grandpa was born in 1884, he died in 1982 at the age of 98. For a while, after he passed, you could still smell the tobacco that he chewed.
My Grandma was born in 1919, she was 21 when she married my Grandpa; who was a friend of her Dad's, she said that she had knew they would marry from the time she was a young girl.
When my Grandma got sick, she started shuffling her feet and after she died, you could still hear her shuffling back and forth between her bedroom and the bathroom.
You could see and hear things in their house. The rocking chair would rock, dishes and silverware would clatter when no one was in the kitchen, the storm door would open and bang shut, door knobs would turn . . .
I could go on, I find all of this stuff to be very interesting, but I am afraid that I might be making this too long. So, if you would be interested in hearing more, drop me a line.
