the feelings of not being alone could be one of two things that you "sort of mentioned" in your text above firstly the horrible deaths that occured there and the fact that there was more then one death would only serve to increase the amount of "dense energy" there i say dense energy as apose to negative energy because i dont beleive there is negative energy there (although there may be i have never been).... when a violent or traumatic death or in this case deaths occure it leaves an "imprint" on that area that can last indefinately. hence walking into a quiet room full of people but "knowing" there has been arguments same type of thing hence sayings llike "the calm before the storm" you instinctivally "know" a fight will generally occur before it does be it body language eye contact or instinct. i think you may be sensitive to these energies and that is what your picking up on.along the lines of the whistling there are many many theories on ghosts. (are they spirits which consciously "think" move feel etc" or more like a photograph where under certain circumstances the energy is picked up on?, ,,, i beleive a spirit to be an independant "body" basically a soul moves and communicates etc its solely independant i think a ghost is more of "dense emotional energy that has been stuck in one spot and only appears under certain circumstances" i beleive in this case its the latter as you said you walked past the doorway twice and twice you heard the whistling. sounds to me like this only occurs under certain circumstances if that puts your mind at rest at all. an example of the dense energy would be that what you hear/heard is the whistling of a guard going about his duty but feeling guilty inside for what he was "made" to do to the inmates.
re "asking it/him not to bother you anymore" presuming that the "it/him" is a spirit the only information i could give would be to contact your nearest spiritualist church ask for a "clensing" i think they call it or explain your situation to them (they wont think your nuts)....
