Hi there everyone,
I have never been to this site and I am looking for some information and/or comments about an encounter I had. I am an active duty military soldier who works full time near santa fe, New Mexico. I am involved in training soldiers getting ready to leave overseas. anyway, We use The old New Mexico Pentitentiary as a sort of "city" to train the soldiers in fighting in an urban environment. If you dont know, The old Prison was the site of americas most violent and brutal prison uprising in February, 1980. 33 inmates died over the course of two days. they died extremely violent deaths. I was doing some cleanup in the prison today when something began to whistle a tune for me. the whistling would only happen after I crossed a certain doorway, but it WASNT coming from the room that doorway leads to, it was in front of me, not more than 30 feet away. I did experience chills and my hair standing up. I wasnt so scared that I felt the need to leave immediately, but I soon left anyway. I know exactly what I heard and felt, I am not mistaken. this thing whistled three different times to me, three differnt tunes. there are a whole bunch of stories that have come out of this place, and there are some actual areas in the prison that reveal scars of the bloody riot, VERY SCARY PLACES. But honestly, I have never experienced anything like what happened today nor was I any sort of "believer". I'm wondering if anyone knows of this place or has been there to investigate the occurrences. I know the catholic priest who works at the new prison (down the road) who told me he often sees an individual in a certain area who wanders the halls, he goes to try and comfort him from time to time. Thats just one, I could tell you about twenty more. also, is there anything I can do to let whoever know that I'm not there to disturb them? and they might also leave me alone? I spend alot of time there and this or anything like it has never happened before. Thanks to whomever reads this and has any insight or guidance for myself and fellow workers. If you ever need to come see this place for yourself let me know, maybe you can identify the areas we need to avoid!
