I am still on the fence about taking on a new project. At the moment the Mini is in the garage. The Mini is 120" long. The project car would be 174" long... 4-1/2 feet longer. Even with reorganization my garage will be stuffed. On a positive note this would force me to go through the garage and get rid of stuff I've been hanging onto going back 2 to 3 decades.

I've only used Upol myself, so no real experience to compare anything vs another. Seems to work well.
One trick I picked up from an old timer. Take an old drill bit, 1/4" perhaps, and flatten the end and sharpen it. Basically a bottoming bit at this point. Prime (or even paint I guess) the two panels to be joined. One has a hole punched or drilled it it, for spotwelding. Clean the paint/primer from the backing piece with the drill bit. Now you don't need weld-thru. you've got a clean surface, and the rest is protected.
I do both techniques. I mean to grab my weld through primer on the bracket I made, but realized when it was too late I grabbed the high-build. Ah well, I'll just clean out the hole and move on.
