Why screw up a good thing, the engines, gearboxes, and drivelines are all part of the appeal.
I really don't get some of the modern trends, folks don't get the full essence of driving & maintaining Brit sports cars...

The Hayabusa Mini conversion is common for those who like motorcycle engines. For those who like to stick with "car" power and a traditional shift pattern, the Honda Vtec swaps are more common. The Honda engine requires a bit of nose stretching on most round-nose Minis but putting one in a "square front" Clubman requires very little bodywork.

Man that's ugly. The mini looks good. I remember growing up in Europe in the 60's, I watched some races with souped up mini's. I always wanted one.
