The parts situation today is terrible; working on these cars for a living every day, I'm well aware of it, it's the biggest problem I have in my bidness...
I've had the exact same situation with some carb diaphragms in the past, noticeably thicker and much stiffer, not allowing the piston to travel freely.
At least Joe's aware of it and making good on it, we're all at the mercy of the (few) manufacturers & suppliers today...

I finally got the new 6J 150CD needles. I installed them along with the new diaphragms. Then the new diaphragms turned out to be "too stiff". They could literally allow the piston to get stuck in the "up" position... this is not a jet centering issue. I called Joe Curto to discuss and he confirmed they had a batch of "too stiff" parts and he is now sending pliable replacements.
It's a good thing I did not need the GT6 running by a particular date.
