Top-end oiler makes sense. I will try it and see.
I haven't done any real engine work at all except to work on the SU's. The engine appears to have an after-market oil cooler and also an oil filter adaptor to allow use of modern canister type oil filters. Aside from that I can't see any sign of engine modifications. Car ran well when I had a test drive before buying it and the odo says abut 70,000 miles (if it can be believed). .
I did have huge difficulty removing the old oil filter and it took a 24-inch plumbers pipe wrench to get it off, believe it or not. But everything looked totally normal once I had it off and I can't see how that would screw up oil pressure. Thanks for your advice. I will be getting back to this project sometime after my trip.
