Yes you will need to reset the ignition timing. If you are not familiar with setting static timing, visit the website I am posting a link to below. It's a storage location for some of my tech files. Look for and download the one on static timing.
Set the static timing for something close to 8 degrees BTDC. That will be good enough for timing. You can set the desired running timing with a light later once the engine has warmed up.

After nearly two years, solved my '65 Spitfire carburetor problem. Changed oil and oil filter in preparation for re-starting engine. Success! Started on first try!
BUT: now I have no oil pressure (if the idiot light is to be believed). Apparently I may need to prime the oil pump after long period of not running the engine. Does that sound like the likely problem?
I have heard you can prime the pump by removing the distributor and using an electric drill to turn the pump until it primes. If I go this route, will I need to use my strobe light to re-time the engine?
Stymied for the time being on this project!
