Two things make this mod work. 1. Get the caliper mounting bolts for a late model TR6 The Brits were starting to go metric at that time and those bolts have the metric shanks that perfectly fit the calipers and the imperial threads that fit the mounting bracket. They "are" expensive though - about 8 bucks a pop w/o shipping.
2. I made sure my calipers came with the brake lines so I had the metric fittings you need on hand. I then just cut, flared and bent the other end to mate with the Triumph's system. If you don't have that line/fitting, I'm told that Ted Shummcher sells the lines already shaped and with the metric & British fitting already in place.
I also seem to remember possibly using some heavy steel washers to center the calipers, but I'm not sure about that.
Good Luck! I haven't had a chance to drive with them yet, but everyone from whom I've read really liked the mod.

: Hi PJ. Before you consider the larger
: diameter disc - what will you mount the
: calipers to? The stock mounts won't
: extend out far enough.
:
: BTW: I did that Mod to the Franken-6

: Hi all.
: I've decided to upgrade the front
: brakes to the Toyota truck or something
: similar but I was hoping to find
: something with a vented rotor. I have
: 15 inch wheels so I should be able to
: go to around a 12 disc which should
: give more options. I know there are
: high dollar bolt ons out there but I
: would like to keep it in the budget..
: Any suggestions on parts??
: Thanks. P.J.

: Hi.
: I have already purchased the Toyota
: truck calipers and am in the process of
: fitting them up. As for rotors, I
: would love to go larger and have heard
: that possibly Datsun 240Z rotors could
: work. I can make whatever I need to
: get things in the correct location.
: I am having trouble with the
: fittings though. I want to go with
: banjo fittings to -4 AN braided hose
: due to clearance issues but the
: calipers are not machined for a banjo
: fitting. I wonder if anyone has made
: this work?
: Thanks. P.J.
