I am curious why the last builder set the timing closer to 108 degrees. If you figure some drift for chain stretch the last person probably set the cam for 106 or 107 degrees. I have read that setting the cam timing "forward" a bit is supposed to improve low end torque but I'd be afraid to try a change like that on my own without someone telling me ahead of time what the downside of advanced cam timing would be.
