Niner.
or a good snug with a 3/8 drive speed-handle...
I don't pin the thrusts on a stock engine. My contention is that it doesn't prevent the washers from wearing. Clapped-out stiff clutch covers and riding the clutch are the causes.
I do have a method to fab a full-circle oil-fed bronze washer conversion, and the jigs to do it, but I have only done a couple, it's machine labor intensive ie much $$$!

: I also tighten a lot of things by feel so
: what you have been doing with the
: clutch fasteners makes perfect sense to
: me. I have friends who look at me with
: surprise when I tell them I don't use a
: torque wrench on things like lug-nuts.
: I just never have and I've never felt
: the need.
:
: The 22 ft-lb figure would be great for
: 5/16 bolts but these are 1/4-28. 22 is
: about twice what they should go to
: according to comparable fasteners on
: the car and online "general"
: guides of torque by fastener size.
:
: Ideally, I would like to have the
: thrusts that would give me .004"
: axial float but I am too lazy to set up
: my mill to dress off .002". While
: we are on the subject, what are your
: feelings about pinning the thrust
: bearings on a 1500?
:
: Regardless, don't be jealous of my
: finally working on this engine.
: Remember my machinist was so backed up
: with work it took 3 months for me to
: get the parts back from him! I really
: want to get this engine/car done so I
: can give it back to my son and get my
: Civic back from him. Once I have the
: Civic back I'll be ready to start
: working on my daily driver Accord's
: suspension.

: I'm coming up with 22 lbs on the clutch
: bolts, but it doesn't specify the
: recessed flywheel and 1/4 hex bolts as
: you have. I don't torque to a spec on
: clutches
: unless it is an alloy wheel &
: racing clutch. I tighten by feel, I
: guess it's a mechanics thing.
:
:
: Your .006 on crank end float is OK too.
: That's my max # that I will go with on
: a street engine, I set up race engines
: a little tighter.
:
: I'm jealous, I have 2 of my own engines
: on the bench right now that I want to
: be doing,
