Tonight we got the front plate off. The bottom of the gasket between the front plate and sealing block literally fell to the ground when we took the plate off... no sealant. No sealant may be common and preferred by some but I like a bit of Aviation Form-A-gasket on those joints. I know that the horizontal bolts on the sealing block could not be tightened so maybe our oil leak really was due to a gasket leak after all. Weather permitting we will finish up tomorrow night after work.
