Re frame specs, you can level it on stands & drop some common reference points on the chassis and check square and diagonals and make sure it isn't short on one side. This will give you an idea of the extent of the chassis damage, if any.
The damage depends obviously on speed but also the angle and height of impact, and possibly braking. The main chassis is fairly stout in a light straight-on hit but at a certain point the whole mess hinges up in front of the bulkhead.

: I checked the Bentley manual and it does
: have dimensions for the MkIV frame.
: However, most the dimensions I need are
: not listed and cannot be calculated
: from the dimensions that are there. It
: also wouldn't be easy to use the few
: dimensions that are shown as long as
: tub is on the frame.
:
: I found a seller on eBay who sells
: dimensioned frame drawings for many
: makes and models of cars so I ordered a
: drawing from him. Hopefully it will
: arrive soon and have the dimensions I
: need.
:
: Regarding the van, my son showed me two
: pictures he took with his phone. Based
: on what I saw and the NADA value of the
: car, I think we should anticipate the
: car being totaled.
