I had Nichols Speedometer (Greensboro, NC) make a ratio box for me and I ran it without issue for about 6 months and it worked great. I only removed it because I put a "stock" rear end back on the car and no longer needed to correct the speedometer.
At the time, I thought the ratio box was expensive. That was naive on my part. It's more expensive to have the gauge gearing altered or even professionally re-conditioned. If I had paid to alter the gauge to work with the first rear end (the one with the Detroit Locker) I would have had to pay that money again to have the gauge calibrated a second time to work with the "stock" final drive. This was WAY before the internet so shopping for used gauges with the correct Turns-Per-Mile was not an option.
