The only other possible point of mechanical interference would be if the bottom of the retainers was hitting the top of the valve guides, but you probably would have noticed that before running the engine.

: P.J., what brand of roller rockers do
: you
: have? I assume by "holes
: down" you are referring to the
: rocker shaft and the oil holes in it?
: My recollection is the orientation of
: that shaft is set by the lock screw
: (philips head) in the rear pedestal
: that screws into the shaft, and thus
: the oil feed holes through the head
: into the rear pedestal and then the
: shaft are correctly aligned.
: Question - have you confirmed you have
: good oil flow to the rear pedestal,
: though either the block passage, or an
: auxiliary oil line from the main galley
: to the tap in the left rear of the
: head? Usually the concern with these
: aux lines is too much oil flow.
: Assume you confirmed the shaft was
: clear of obstructions by blowing air
: through it before you installed?
: Hardened shaft?
:
: Hi Scott. When I bought these you told
: me they were Harlan Sharp rockers
: 1.45:1 ratio.
: I have confirmed that there is good oil
: flow through the aux. line at the back
: of the engine. I primed the engine by
: drill prior to initial startup. You are
: correct about the Phillips screw that
: locates the shaft so I suspect that it
: was located in the proper orientation
: .. The shaft was Tialn coated and is
: very hard and therefore undamaged..
: Is it possible that I could be
: experiencing coil bind with the valve
: springs?? Nothing seams abnormal and
: there is about .080 between the coils
: at full lift but I don't know what
: there should be for sure..Thanks P.J.
