The diaphragms are a common problem, as has been mentioned, and make sure that the bowl vents are clear, if the incorrect air filter gasket is fitted it will block one off, as will a plugged charcoal can.
If the carbs have been sitting for a long time, especially if there is unknown history, it would probably be best to consider going through them now because they can cause a lot of problems if they aren't set up properly.
