If you do crank the engine over on the starter to get oil pressure it will be cold pressure which will be higher than hot idle. It may give you a false sense of security.
Were this mine, in addition to the leak down test I would at least drop the pan on the engine to check the bearings with Plastigauge, fit new front and rear seals, and I would consider replacing the oil pump if you don't know how many miles are on it. While all these things can be done with the engine in the car it will be a lot easier before installation.
