While no modifications were supposed to be required, an enclosed installation sheet said some people simply bolted it in, some people removed the starter spacer, and some people thinned the spacer down.
I found I needed to thin the spacer from 10mm to 4mm thick so the pinion would fully engage the ring gear and I needed to shorten the cable stud so it was not too close to my car's headers. With that done it bolted in without issue and boy is it a nice improvement over the inertia starter.
Time will tell if this was a good investment or not. This is a new starter (not rebuilt) and it comes with a 1 year warranty so I am optimistic.
