I'll contribute a few words, since summer is upon us and ac in gt's is a rare thing.
I've never ac'ed one, but 35 years of driving one gives me some experience. For over 25 years, my daily driver.
Yes- close off the fresh air intakes at the bonnet-heater box. I used duct tape years ago (neat rectangles, painted flat black0 Nowdays I have some metal plates I machined, that clip on. Anything to seal it off.
I also advise getting rid of the insulation at or around the transmission if it is still there. All of it- so the air can flow thru. Put insulation inside the car, over cover and the tunnel- underneath the carpet and padding. Like an American, Japanese, or practically ANY other car made.
I've heard arguement on this board that the bag/insulation is needed around the gearbox, for various reasons. That is nonsense, unless it is a "perfect" restoration show car.
These two changes will help cool down a GT-6 moving and sitting still in traffic. Not a great amount- but a noticable difference.
I live in the South (TN), so I can appreciate ac systems. And I admired Howard's when he sent me pics of it a few years ago (on the Toyota trans).
And one last thought is the paint color...my black is not "fun in the sun". I suppose the easy cure is to just drive at night or early morning.
Best regards to all, hot or cold.
