Poly bushings

Has anyone ever fit poly bushings in there spitfire? I am having a hell of a time trying to get them in!!!! I bought the stiff red ones, and soap and water, penetrating oil etc. and they just don't want to go. Do you install them with the center metal sleeve inside or without? I tried both and neither works that well. HELP!!! Anywone?
