: Hey Tim, you can use the later Master
: Cylinder (76-80) on say an earlier 1500
: model. Several years ago a friend of
: mine did that swap on a '74 model and I
: am planning to do the same to my '74
: spit. I remember he had to make a
: little more space for the rear of the
: later master cylinder as it was a tad
: bit longer than the early "large
: cap version". He just made the
: recessed area behind the cylinder on
: the firewall a little deeper by making
: a small notch with a hammer and a
: punch, maybe 1/4" at best. Other
: than that it seemed like a straight
: swap. At the time my buddy did his car
: you couldn't get that "large cap
: master cylinder" (70-75) for less
: than $500.00! Another good point about
: the later model is that it is cheaper
: and the cap is so much easier to
: remove!

: OK, Is this a stupid question? Why
: can't
: you use a 1976 to 1980 brake master
: cylinder instead of the expensive 1970
: to 1975 model? What is the difference?
: I don't understand.

Thanks Steve, I may do this, but would really like the stock year look. And really don't want to mess with the fire wall since the new one is longer. But, time will tell. By the way, does he like the braking?
