All this assumes you have a swing-axle car. This has the taper fit between the hub and drive shaft. If you have rotoflex shafts, they are splined and easier (usually!) to remove. Roto hub flanges will come off with a decent 3 legged puller.
You need the proper top-hat puller for the swing axle cars - an even then it can be a major struggle. When you pull the threads out of all four wheel nuts (used to fix the puller to the hub) simultaneously, you know you've lost......
