I agree. a 327 might be a bad match and your engine might not be powerful enough for it. I had a reverse experience when my differential (327) gave up on me. I could only find a 389 off a spitfire. It fit with no problem but, the rpms on my GT6 at highway speed was too high. I eventually found a used 327. So don't do it.

: It 'fits', as in the mountings are all
: the same. Depending on the year of
: Spitfire, you may have to swap out the
: diff-side U-Joints and yokes to the
: larger ones.
: However, you may not be entirely happy
: with the conversion, as the
: acceleration will be down quite a bit.
: Also, since the motor will be running
: at lower RPM, it may not be capable of
: generating enough torque/power to
: maintain the same cruising speeds. A
: 1500 may have enough low end to pull it
: off.
: Most Spitfires had either 4.11 or 3.89.
: If you already have a 3.63, then you're
: ahead of the game now.
: Perhaps someone that's lived with this
: swap can chime in?

: Hi, wondering about installing another
: rear end in my Spitfire for better top
: speed. Would a GT 6 3:27 rear fit in a
: spitfire? I do believe I have a 3.63
: rear end now, and it really winds out
: on the hi-way. Would love to do a 5
: speed conversion or even a overdrive
: kit, but don't have the funds. Anyone?
