GT6 Gearbox

I have a Vincent Hurricane which is a remodel of the GT6 MK3 1973...the current gearbox is the original from that car (4 speed with OD on 3rd + 4th) however the syncromesh on 2nd is almost obliterated and generally the performance of the box is getting pretty poor. Other than that the car is in perfect condition. I would like to know if anyone has knowledge of the best type of box to use in these cars (2l straight six engine) - either suggesting a replacement gearbox or if you have any knowledge of a good recon method/package for the original box.
The car is primarily used for everyday driving, though track days are likely from time to time so a fairly robust box is required and a decent quickshift action is a must.
