Hi everyone !
I own a '68 GT6 MK1 wich I'm improving in my spare time. It's in pretty good shape to start with and has been restored to a certain extend. Amateur work, not always the prettiest result, but solid work.
I am now at a crossroad in this project and in need of some philosophical input.
Should I get into a full frame off restauration and aim for coucours condition or improve the car gradually and leave good enough alone ?
Engine runs smoothly (valves are a little noisy), trans has been rebuilt before and works well but there's no overdrive, bodywork is solid, no rust, but there are bumps and dents here and there.
Interior is good but needs some TLC (cracked dash, tear in one seat, etc...)
I plan on rebuilding the suspension, but again: should I go for top of the line Spax shocks and MK3 spring setup or keep the original swing spring configuration and install ordinary dampers ?
I'm facing such decisions on many projects with this car and wonder what is the best way to spend my money.
I want it to be fun and safe to drive. I have registered in a local club, but haven't been to any meetings yet. I'd like to show the car and be proud of my work, but winning prizes isn't a priority !
Your wisdom is welcomed !
