Ted Schumacher at TSI sells them - expensive and you may find more response for the $$ from headers, different ratio rockers, porting the head, etc. If you really just want stoplight acceleration change the rear end gearing but of course you lose top speed and gain cruising rpms

: You will likely see some gain through the
: gears then, with a lighter wheel,
: especially with added improvements in
: cam, compression, & exhaust.
: Depending on cam overlap, you might
: have a "rough" idle, a
: heavier wheel dampens that out
: somewhat.

: A lightened flywheel doesn't make more
: power, it simply lets the engine spin
: up faster. Fine in a race car, not so
: hot in a street car.

: Tim getting rid of weight in a sports
: car
: is usually a good thing, as it is in
: this case, but a light wheel isn't the
: "magic bullet" as some would
: claim. The engine will respond &
: accelerate quicker & make for
: quicker gearchanges but in reality
: there won't be a significant max power
: increase, if any, in top gear.
: Stock wheels are generally way too
: heavy, so it's good to at least lighten
: your stock wheel.
: Can't speak for the different vendors
: but they all claim that their product
: is best, of course...

: Hey wondering anyones thoughts on a
: aluminum flywheel? Is it worth
: installing on my new engine that is
: above stock and with a piper cam etc. I
: was told that you really gain some
: power with these. Anyone? Chris at pri
: said to go with a lightened one he
: makes and sells, but I can't get him to
: even e-mail me back on anything. I
: would like to buy some stuff from him,
: but he is hard to get ahold of. What's
: up with that huh?

: Thanks Glen. I installed one on a chevy
: truck I built 20 years ago, and it made
: it quicker, but not by much. I just was
: wondering on a 4 cycl. what would
: happen, and if anyone has done one?
: Thanks Glen your always helpful.

:
: Yes, but accelleration is something I
: want. I don't care about top speed, and
: pulling out into an intersection these
: days is down right dangerous in a stock
: spitfire.
