Yeah, it was wierd...probably just "gelled" from sitting for 10 years...who knows.
maxima.org does get kind of crazy sometimes. But, being a moderator/admin there (been there since '03) I'm able to "deal" with troublemakers
As to the tranny, I'll try the kerosene. My GT6 has no shortage of rust-inhibiting gunk buildup. Making a total mess of my garage!

: Nice car.
:
: I used to post on Maxima.org, but quit
: after I sold my problem child 89 SE. I
: also can't get there from work anymore.
: It could get pretty snotty there at
: times.
:
: I would pull off the top cover and use
: some kerosene. If there is any gritty
: material inside the trans, you may want
: to disassemble it, clean it well and
: reassemble it. I've acquired some
: pretty crappy cars and not had any with
: the trans fluid come out like jelly.

: Gents,
: Pulled the tranny today in the latest
: stage of my frame-off resto.
: Background: car hasn't been driven
: since 1996, but was runnign well when
: shut down. Tranny fluid was as thick as
: jelly when I drained it, but it was
: rebuilt about 2 years prior to
: shutdown.
:
: SO....I want to clean it out, but not
: do an actual rebuild. What is the best
: method to clean out all the old fluid,
: any metal shavings, etc? Any kind of
: solvent that would work well, any tips?
: Thanks.
:
: btw, if anyone wants to watch my
: rebuild, I have a thread in a
: non-triumph forum where I'm a
: moderator:
