I haven't bought a new Mocal in some years but I have had sealing issues with them. If I recall, the inner boss & seal will compress & seat but there isn't enough compression on the outer seal, resulting in leaks. It sounds like they have addressed the problem...

: The original filter used not an O-ring,
: but a square section rign to sit in the
: groove cut in the block. The filter
: inside sealed around the inner oil
: outlet by a wide fibre washer that was
: part of a new filter.
:
: Adaptors use an O-ring in pace of that
: washer. The Mocal adaptor comes with
: the strange instructions to use a piece
: of BluTac (suuplied)as a depth gauge.
: Trial fit the adaptor with the square
: of BluTac where the O-ring will go and
: then choose from a thick or thin O-ring
: (supplied). Why this variability
: existed, I don't know.
:
: Also, on most Mocal adaptors the
: position of the O-ring groove is
: marginally overlappeing the edge of the
: face that it should seat on. I'm sure
: that I fitted it at least once and had
: no or very litle oil filtering, as all
: the oil bypassed the filter, AND the
: cooler!
