It will work but the shaft is 60" which may be more than you need. It also would work with a co-pilot. If you have any more questions, call me on my cell at 336-250-3971. I will be gone sailing this weekend...but not in a sail boat. We will be on Kerr in the 22 mph winds. OH BOY!
