Aye, variety and reinvention are the spices of life - well, certainly for me. Some people are happy sticking with the same sound for years. I myself haven't been in what some would class as a metal band for 11 years but I have enjoyed my journey through many different types of guitar based rock from doom to thrash to dark goth/industrial to blues (briefly) to mainstream rock to experimental prog to punk rock. It's all good! I honestly couldn't imagine life having stayed with the same musicians and musical style for over a decade. The older I get, the more effort I have to put in to understand the younger people on the scene at times but it can be rewarding.
